Poem Series #3: Politics in America

Politics in America are on a global stage

Clips, sound bites, and pictures flow in the digital age

Infighting, scandals, petty name calling

Common sense fails when the power struggle is so appalling

The left always bites with accusations

Call to action, everyone takes their stations

Asking for understanding, but unwilling to listen

Disregard logic, make policies glisten

The right always denies

Rather than help, drown their cries

Nostalgia rules, be wary of the new tools

Driven counter intuitively, followed by fools

We all hate it, but we all stoke it so

The politics we know have sources that let it grow

As representatives of the people, politicians are our mirror

Compare your circle to DC; the image becomes clearer

Remember our strengths to remain a world power

Culture, diversity, individuals in ivory tower

Reject the fancy philosophy; focus on history

Reject the old system; what is new shouldn’t be a mystery
